It’s right here.
Abundant Hope!

I’ve gotta whole lotta Hope!
Pendants, that is.
And… okay, the real stuff too!
I’ll probably say this a lot, but:
Hope gives us strength to rise above the adversities of life and carry on. What gives YOU hope?

I’ve been pretty busy making Hope pendants in every colour under the sun (Pink is coming…!).
I’ve written a bit of a write up, and have been listing them on my Etsy Site. If you like, you can contact me with a colour you’d like to see, and I’ll make one for you!
Price: 50$, plus shipping.
Hope

I would like to introduce you to an EllyLoo design that I call “Hope”.
HOPE gives us the strength to rise above struggles and trials that threaten to pull us down into despair. It allows us to carry on. What gives you hope? What helps you through your struggles in life? People who have hope sparkle like diamonds…there’s just something about them!

As you can see, “Hope” pendants can be personalized with any colour. Each, while similar in design, is unique from the others, because I make each by hand. While the glass is still hot and soft, I embed a cubic zirconia in the glass. Some can be etched to give them a soft seaglass look, while other colours glow when left in their natural glass state.
These pendants are showstoppers when I bring them as a display, particular favourites are the red and the black.
If this pendant brings meaning to you, it makes me happy. Contact me through elly@ellyloo.com , and let me know which colour you prefer. Hope necklaces are $50 US, and they come with a chain included, so you can wear it as soon as you want.

This beautiful bead was made last summer, when I took a trip out to British Columbia. We had a great time, and I torched alongside some AWESOME artists.
This little treasure was one I took home with me, and is now available for purchase! I’ll include a 16 inch chain, unless you prefer a longer one, then please put it in the note, and I’ll be happy to do so.

Wind in my sails!

Okay, so after the big Bead Oasis show, I kind of lost my ‘oomph’. I also got that awful coughing virus, and it put me out of commission for a while.
However, I just bought some new special glass, and have some pretties to show you! Double Helix’s Aurae, and Triton. They both reduce to a really nifty sheen, as you’ll see! I’ve been making big holed beads in preparation for trying out the new Nortel Bead liner, so that’s why some of these have 1/4 inch holes.
Triton goes a mirrored silver when reduced (it does other things too, but so far, I can do the first!), if you look closely, you can see me with the camera!

Aurae is like a Fairy glass! It reduces to a delicate golden sheen, like liquid sunlight!

This one below is an elegant beauty that has Triton in it in reduced and unreduced form. There are a few mirror shiny spots, but unreduced, it’s the ethereal blue that you see. It also includes silvered ivory. I really enjoy how it turned out!

Lizard Skin
by admin on Feb.04, 2009, under Glass Chat
I got a whole bunch of glass last weekend!
Among it was a clear that I had never used before, “Creation Is Messy” (CIM) clear.
It’s apparently very VERY clear.
Also, I bought CIM Hades, which is a very nice black, that ‘enjoys’ silver glasses, and stays black.
I also bought Opal Yellow, which is a favourite of mine, but only if it has the pink rings! Opal Yellow seems to go all milky and lose all it’s colour in the torch. I’ve found that if I ignore it, and use it for a base, or put it down first in the order of colours, by the time my bead is done, it’s bloomed into a nice toasty yellow. Ignore it, and it will treat you well!
Anyhow, this pendant bead is made from all of those, plus a touch of Terra, an Terra Nova. They added a bit of glow to things I think! The Hades webbed like crazy, and I’ll have to learn how to be gentle with it with my GTT cricket. It did create a really neat ‘lizard-like’ quality to the bead. All in all, I enjoy the clear, it’s very nice!! This is a substantial thick flat bead. It’ll be a wonderful focal bead. Buy it if you wish! It will also be for sale in my Artfire studio.

Dark Magic:
by admin on Jan.30, 2009, under Glass Chat

“….Suddenly, the young magician came across the evil wizard! The wizard flung a spell at the young man, so vile and foul that it seemed to suck the light into it. The hero threw his hands up startled, and his thoughts were not fearful or full of vengeance, but only for his love, and that she would be safe. The power of his selfless thoughts fueled a counterspell so strong and pure, that it caught the evil spell in mid air, and it fell to the ground, harmless.
This is a beautiful bead with a lot of clear encasement, showcasing a gauze like ribbon of glass in the middle. It’s flattened, with a mild curve, so that it will lay against your skin when worn. It’s 3cm long by 1cm thick.
The evil wizard fled in defeat, his power sucked out of him, and the young man picked up his token, and travelled home to give it to his love.”
It is available through private sale, or through my Artfire store.
How do you get the flowers in there?
by admin on Jan.11, 2009, under Available Now, Glass Chat, How to

This is one of the most common questions I’ve heard about this type of bead. It’s quite flattering!
There actually are no real flowers in this bead! Even if I tried, the poor flower would vaporize in the flame I use to melt the glass! Everything you see, each design element, is made from different colours of glass! This bead is made from layers upon layers of glass.

The bottom layer is black, and I drizzled colours on top of it that make it look like vines. Then I “encase” it all with a thick layer of clear glass. Once I get the basic shape I want, I start adding the ‘flowers’. Each flower in this bead is comprised of 6 very thin layers of glass!

Pretty suprising, even to me, when I just counted it up! The design is made up of dots of glass, melted in, and layers of dots on top of it. It still looks like a bunch of dots, until I take a sharp tool, and POKE the center down deep into the bead. This makes the dots all of a sudden become PETALS. And if you look closely, you’ll see a bubble trapped in the middle of each flower, sparkling and special. This is done deliberately.
Since each floral like this has so many layers, the time taken to make it can range from 20 minutes to an hour! It all depends on how many flowers, layers and other details are included! In this bead, I put a little bit of Dichroic glass into it for a beautiful delicate sparkle.
This bead is made into a pendant already, and if you purchase it, will come ready to wear right out of the box! It’s a lovely size. Don’t forget to tell me how long you would like the chain!
